For the third day in a row, Coptic children in the village of Daljā in the governorate of Minya were prevented from attending their schools in Dayr Muwās, due to the threat of kidnapping or death from members of the Muslim Brotherhood. One child has been kidnapped and his family asked for a ransom of 600 000 LE – this action is perceived to be a response to the arrest of members of the Brotherhood for attacks on security forces. Father Joseph, pastor of the church of Saint George for Catholic Copts in Daljā, said that Copts had been in danger since 25^th January 2011, while Midhat ‘Abd al-Rāziq, representative from the Department for Education, stated that they were working to provide guards for the students, and to forbid gatherings outside school gates (George Fikrī and Māhir ‘Abd al-Sabūr, al-Shurūq, Mar. 11, p. 1).
