On various jihadist websites, an official statement was published announcing a rapprochement between al-Qā^’idah and ISIS, which until recently fought each other in Syria. It was stated that their ideological differences have been accommodated and that they will work together against the newly formed American-led alliance. On the Facebook Page of ISIS, is was posted that the organization gets large support from various Islamist movements in Egypt and that it disposes over enough weapons to equip 250.000 soldiers and, thus, Arab states should prepare for the worst. Furthermore, Wajdī Ghunīm, a radical leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, expressed his support for ISIS in a video message, despite his reservations about some of its practices. Moreover, the French Minister of Defense, Jean-Ives Le Drian, was not able to convince the Egyptian President, ^‘Abd al-Fatāh al-Sīsī, to join the military alliance against ISIS due to some reservations (Muhammad Hassan ^‘Āmir et al., al-Watan, Sept. 17, p. 1).
