Bayt al- Zakāt has been approved by the president. Experts think that it is a dream realized after a long period of delay. Its incomes are expected to range between 12 and 17 billion LE annually. Years ago experts discussed the importance of having an institution that collects the money of alms that reaches 17 billion annually but is spent haphazardly so that some of those who need it get a part while those who don’t deserve it get the greater part. Former Minister of Finance Yūsuf Boutros Ghāly wanted to include the money of alms to the state budget to bring to an end the budget deficit but the lack of trust of the citizens in all that is governmental did not allow this project to se the light (Nadīa Mitawlī’, al- Wafd, Sep. 15, p. 9).
