Dr. Rev. Safwat al-Bayādī, head of the Coptic Evangelical Church, wrote an opinion piece in al-Dustūr, comparing the internal and external crises facing the Church today, and focusing on the internal issues as he believes they are more dangerous.  Primarily he discusses the effects of the philosophy of utilitarian pragmatism, and the power of charismatic speakers and media programs to endorse and explain personal ways of dealing with individual crises, without reference to the centrality of the Bible and whether these philosophies or personal solutions are in accordance with Biblical teachings (Dr. Rev.
