Last Tuesday (September 3), Dr. Shāykh Ahmad al-Tayyīb, Grand Shaykh of Al-Azhar, met the institution's representatives in the Constituent Assembly amending Egypt's Constitution to discuss Al-Azhar's view on the new document and agree on the texts that they will present to the assembly. One of the assembly members representing Al-Azhar, Dr. 'Abd Allah al-Najjār, said that the Azhar will strive to create a constitution for Egypt that pleases all groups (Sanā' Hashīsh, al-Wafd, Sept. 3, p. 11).
