The Coptic Youth Front has announced the start of what it called “a week of anger” towards the state because of a disregard for the problems faced by the Copts, which have up till today still not been solved. The front said that the 48-hour deadline it granted to the regime had come to an end without any response. The front added that it will present Coptic issues during international forums and it is developing a file of Coptic issues for human rights officials of various different embassies. It also announced a sit-in in front of these embassies.
The front has stated that it appears as if actions of the regime are encouraging the continuation of these sectarian incidents. According to member Rāmī Kāmil, the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood has seen an increase in the number of crimes carried out against Copts.
The Front indicated that belief in the state of law and humanitarian values has encouraged them to challenge all state institutions. According to them, the front was left with no choice but to force the presidency to respect the law and respect humanitarian values through the international charters Egypt has signed. The front has also rejected the Church for encouraging reconciliation meetings because it believes that the Church is thereby destroying the rule of law (‘Abd al-Wahāb Sha'bān, al-Wafd, Mar. 5, p. 2).
