In the election for the workers' seat and the professional' seat in the fourth constituency of Asyūt governorate, the Copts and the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) allied against the candidates of al-Jamā'ā al-Islāmiyyah.

The Coptic Church spread a statement encouraging it's followers to vote for the Coptic candidate Amīr Lam’ī, running for the professionals' seat, along with the MB candidate 'Abd al-'Azīz Muhamm contesting the workers seat. [Reviewer: each constituency in Egypt produces two members of parliament]

Leaders of the Church held meetings with the MB's candidate for the workers seat to discuss the mutual benefits of voting for him and of the MB supporting the Christian candidate for the professionals' seat.
