The Journalist Nashwá Yūsuf talks about the increasing number of online services aiding people in Qurān reading and memorization. Using popular mediums such as facebook they often have a large number of participants.

Various Islamic scholars from the Azhar and the Islamic Research Academy commented on the phenomenon. Most of them said that the Qurān must be taught face to face to ensure correct pronunciation. Others find online readings acceptable, provided that verses are properly revised and moderated.
