A cautious calm prevailed throughout the ‘Umrāniyyah Church area yesterday following Wednesday’s riots, as security forces surrounded the building and blocked the main road leading to it. Area Muslims said that the crisis, which was caused by “a few extremist Copts,” was now over. Copts residing in the area refused to comment on the matter, except one who claimed Muslims rioted with them against the security forces and helped them gather rocks to throw.
