A number of Coptic activists considered the Muslim Brotherhood’s campaign discussions about the church to be a scheme in order to attract Coptic voters. They fear it might also feed the current sectarian friction and say that the group is attempting to make it clear to the ruling National Democratic Party that it is its strongest competitor.
