An ecclesiastical source told al-Misrī al-Yawm that Pope Shenouda III plans on holding a meeting with leader of the Evangelical Community Council, Dr. Safwat al-Bayādī, and the Patriarch of the Catholic Church, Cardinal Antonius Najīb, to discuss thanking President Muhammad Husnī Mubārak for his reactions to the recent threats made against Egyptian churches. Bayyūmī says that the Pope’s recent ban on priests talking to the press has led to three contradicting stories about his injury. Bishop Butrus, the Pope’s secretary, refused to talk about the injury and said that the Pope is absolutely fine.
