Habīb says that people have been asking about who runs the Church when the pope is away on medical and pastoral trips. It used to be Bishop Bīshūy, says Habīb, but after the recent controversy surrounding his comments about Islam it has been Father Sergius. Habīb claims the Pope has chosen Father Sergius for his ineligibility to become the next pope. Father Sergius said that the Pope runs the church when abroad through phone calls and that no decisions are taken without his permission. Sergius’ claims are backed by several bishops.
