In an interview with Rose al-Yūsuf, Bishop Antonius Najīb, Egypt's first Cardinal eligible to become the Vatican pope, called the threats made by al-Qā‘idah “insane” and said that they do not worry him. He said that political Islam was discussed in a recent meeting in the Vatican City and it was agreed that it poses a threat to Middle Eastern Christians. On the subject of second marriage, he said that he agrees with Pope Shenouda III.
