Sa‘diyyah, a seventeen year old girl from a small village in Minya, has been missing since last February. During the first week of her disappearance, she contacted her brother and told him she was kidnapped. Her brother has since received two calls from her mobile phone by a man named ‘Abd Allāh, implying her conversion to Islam, although her name is not listed at the Azhar in the record of converts. Budaywī says that Sa‘diyyah’s disappearance may have something to do with an American missionary organization looking to stir fitnah tā’ifīyah in Minya.
