The article discusses whether the second article of the constitution has a negative impact on the life of Copts in Egypt. ‘Abd Al-Fattāh explains the four dominant patterns of the relationship between the Constitution and religion in the modern world. He concludes that Egypt falls under the fourth, which is a liberal constitution with privileges for the religion followed by the majority. He says that the inclusion of articles five and forty-four gives Copts enough space to practice freedom of thought.
