The Azhar has ignored Bishop Bīshūy’s comments and has called for a meeting with the Islamic Research Academy tomorrow to discuss the issue. The Ministry of Endowments issued a statement saying that the Qur'ān was written before Prophet Muhammad’s death but gathered after, and that non-Muslims do not have the right to discuss Islamic faith or question “the word of God." The statement also accuses Bishop Bīshūy of stirring fitnah.
