Pope Tawāḍrūs II has visited the Monastery of St. Macarius [Dayr Abū Maqār], one of the oldest Coptic monasteries in Wādī Naṭrūn. It is his tenth visit since he assumed the Patriarchate in 2012. His first visit as 118^th Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church to the monastery was on 10^th March 2014.

The visit was described as "pastoral" by the Church's spokesman. This means it aims to manage the work of the monastery in all its aspects. In addition, he held a spiritual session with the monks, which included an opportunity for a Q&A with the Pope.
