An official declaration about the White House’s will of labelling the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization has raised widespread fear and criticism both in the US and in the international arena.

On Tuesday, Sarah Sanders, the Presidential Press Secretary, said that Donald Trump had consulted with the National Security Team and the leaders of the region that share his concern. She also added that the designation is working its way through the internal process .  

A senior US official said that the designation was set up during 9th April visit of the Egyptian President  to the White House, confirming the NYT report of last Tuesday. Some former officials have also questioned whether the group fit the legal definition of FTO.
