Anna-Maria Horschig, Bachelor of Linguistics, University of Leipzig, came for an internship to the Center for Arab-West Understanding through AIESEC-Ain Shams University. AIESEC had a number of cancellations of internships at other organizations in Egypt which explains why we had this year more interns through AIESEC than in the previous year. Anna-Maria Horschig is one of those interns. Anna-Maria contributed to the standardization process of the Arab-West Report database which involved the reading of many articles in our database which is a good way to introduce students who come for a first time to Egypt to Egyptian culture. Anna-Maria wrote “I really enjoyed reading all the texts as I learned a lot about the political and cultural landscape of Egypt.” Anna-Maria received during her internship an offer to work at a German language school. The Center realizes that intern are volunteers and thus they want to benefit from as many experiences as possible and thus the center facilitated this. Anna-Maria wrote about her experiences at the Center before returning to Germany.
