Dr. Muṣṭafa al-Fiqī, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, said that the Christians of the Arab countries have been subjected to unprecedented violations, killings, displacement and aggression against their churches, as a result of escalating waves of extremism and terrorism. He added that the Coptic presence in all fields, including scientists such as the cardiologist Majdi Yaʿqūb, the politician Buṭrus Ghāli, diplomats, academics and professionals are a small number, but not a minority in the sense adopted by American sociologists. “The Copts actively participated in all the developments that took place in Egypt since 2011 to date, there is no room to describe them negatively,” Dr. Muṣṭafa al-Fiqī said.
