A Coptic family has been devastated by the loss of the mother and her three children, who were murdered by another Coptic Christian in the village of al-Kushh in Sohag Governorate. 

AWR editor: Remarkably, no foreign media were found reporting about this crime. If this murder had been sectarian, it would most likely have become world news, but since it was not related to Muslim-Christian relations, it went unreported outside Egypt. Such violence among Christians is not common, but also not unique to this case. An example is the Shaker family in Wasta, north of Beni Suef. In the mid-1990s, Adly Shaker murdered his family because his sister Therese wanted to convert to Islam to escape the domestic violence she was facing. With the drama that unfolded in al-Kushh, such an element was not present.
